I am Reino von Wielligh, in 2022 I joined the International Ice Swimming Association and qualified to represent South Africa at the 5th World Ice Swimming Championships in Samoens, France, 11- 16 January 2023. This entails swimming 1000m in under 5 degrees Celsius water in only a speedo/jammer with cap and goggles. At the 5th World Championships in Jan 2023, I managed to break the African and South African record in the 1000m, 500m and 100m freestyle events. This was also a new world record in all three events for the age group 30-35.
Overall, I managed to get the following results at 5th IISA World Champs 2023:

- 5th Overall in the 1000m free.
- 6th Overall in the 500m free.
- 9th Overall in the 100m free.
