In Jan 2022 I signed up to do Dakar 2023, but I managed to injure myself (I broke my back) during a training ride in Atlantis. It also happened to be not long after the recovery from breaking my shoulder. I got lucky with my back in that I didn't need surgery, but the pain is constant and its something that one learns to live with. Fast forward a few years and I've decided to take on Baja 2025 and Africa Eco Race 2026 (quite clearly the rally spirit never died). The Baja Rally traverses the Baja peninsula over 6 days covering about 1500km's. The Africa Eco race follows the original route of the Dakar rally leaving from France (Monaco) traversing Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal. It finishes at Lac Rose in Dakar, running over 12 days covering some 6500-7000 km's.
