At the end of October 2025, I started running for the very first time in my life.
Honestly, I could barely think of running 100m, let alone a kilometre!
I was almost 140kg, struggling with high blood pressure and cholesterol that required medication. I was constantly sore in my knees and back, exhausted, and convinced that running just wasn’t for someone like me.
Every run felt hard.Every step hurt. But I kept showing up.
What started as an attempt to improve my health slowly became something that completely changed my life.
Since my first run in October 2025, I’ve completed three half marathons, including the Two Oceans Half Marathon, and I’ve lost more than 20kg through running and consistency alone. Today, I’m down to 115kg, off my cholesterol and blood pressure medication, and healthier than I’ve been in years.
Most importantly, I’m doing this for my kids, Clara and Elliot. I want them to have a dad who inspires them to do things they didn’t know were possible. To commit to a goal and work hard to achieve it. I wanted to become healthi...
