The latest update

It’s 18 March and I’m recovering well from surgery. In fact, today is the first day I have not had any kind of pain medication with breakfast. It’s still a bit wild to look at my medication and it’s simply a probiotic, antidepressant, and blood pressure tablet in my hand. 

That doesn’t mean I’m not in pain, but it’s more discomfort than what I’m used to. 

So a heartfelt thank you to every person who has donated and/shared.

I received the first bill last night. As expected, the medical aid hasn’t paid anything in full. I had a significant copayment for hospital admission. They’re not paying for any of my out-of-hospital physiotherapy (six weekly sessions).

So I’m afraid I’m still asking for help. If you can help or share, I would be eternally grateful.

Yes, I have an update. I have a new preliminary date for surgery: 1 March 2026. I've changed to a different medical aid provider and worked with a broker who helped me ensure I got an option that covers joint replacements,...
