When I was five, my parents divorced. My mother and I went to fetch my cats, Scampi and Chips. My father said they were gone — just a burnt mark on the carpet remained. I never knew what happened. That moment never left me.

A few years later, my mother joined the SPCA, and I became a junior member. That’s when I saw the reality: so many animals unloved, forgotten, invisible. 
I couldn’t sit on the sidelines. I owed it to Scampi and Chips to make sure no other life vanished into the unknown.
