Make a difference, one meal at a time

Over 30 years ago, Emily Nomajoni Makwena came into our lives and helped raise me. She became like my second mother. She is one of the kindest, most generous women who dedicates her life to caring for others. She is deeply passionate about the well being of children in her community, Kayamandi Township. She started a feeding scheme in her spare time from her home, cooking and distributing food to children from surrounding homes and shacks. Often this is there only meal. She used any spare money she had to do this and by seeking donations where possible. 

More recently she established a NPO called “There Is Life Here” to try and expand their reach and number of meals cooked. The number of children needing food keeps increasing and their dream is to be able to cook more meals and reach more children. 

This will be one of the first big fundraisers for the organisation and the funds will go directly towards the purchase of additional cooking utensils (pots, gas bottles/stoves, bowls) and weekly groceries used to make the food.
