Mfundo runs for dreams

🎓 Help Mfundo #CrossTheFinishLine for students who never thought they’d reach the starting line!

On 8 June 2025, University of Pretoria (UP) staff member Mfundo Nyitana will take on the ultimate human race – the 90km Comrades Marathon – not just as a test of endurance, but as a journey of hope. With every kilometre, he’s running to raise funds for the Vice-Chancellor and Principal's Scholarship Fund at the University of Pretoria. The fund supports students in the “missing middle” – those whose family income is too high for government financial aid (NSFAS), but too low to afford private student loans or cover the full costs of a university education.

As a Senior Prospect Researcher in UP’s Department of Institutional Advancement, Mfundo knows the power of a scholarship. He sees first-hand how financial support can change the trajectory of a student’s life – opening doors to education, opportunity and a brighter future.
