Nicela (Nikki) was a born from an unwanted pregnancy and abandoned in a state hospital after she was born.

Her biological mother did not want to see her on know whether she gave birth to a boy or girl. Life looked very somber for this little baby as she was also born with a very rare syndrome causing a lymphatic and vascular malformation affecting the left side of her body with tumours up to 1kg on her chest and deformity of her left arm and hand. A syndrome found in only 1 in 100 000 people, Klippel Trenaunay Webber Syndrome.

She was doomed to live a very short and lonely life with her condition as her life expectancy was approximately 4 months.

But this was not to be the end of her story. Jacques and Madelaine Naudé, 2 officers in the South African Police Service, met Nicela through a friend who knew of her. Without any doubts in their minds they began the process to adopt this little girl. They said they didnt have much but whatever they do have she will also have.
