🎓🏃♂️ From fundraising to footraces – University of Pretoria (UP) staff member Josiah Mavundla is going the distance to boost students’ prospects through the transformative power of education!
As Senior Manager of Advancement at UP, Josiah dedicates his professional life to securing resources that enable students to pursue higher education. With over 50% of UP students receiving some form of financial assistance, he understands the transformative power of scholarships and financial aid.
Beyond his office, Josiah is an avid long-distance runner. On 8 June 2025, he will channel this passion into purpose by participating in the Comrades Marathon, a challenging 90km race, to raise funds for the Vice-Chancellor and Principal’s Scholarship Fund at UP. This initiative aims to support academically deserving students who fall into the “missing middle” – those who do not qualify for government financial aid yet cannot afford university tuition.
