My name is Kasey Armstrong, and in 2023, I launched Adonai House in Cape Town. Today, we walk alongside 23 families raising children with severe disabilities, reminding them they do not have to carry this journey alone.

There is something about a waiting room that changes you.

The hard plastic chairs.
The silence that feels too loud.
Watching the same walls. Listening for your child’s name.
Waiting for answers, for hope, for someone to step in.

As the mother of Hannah, who lives with a rare genetic condition and severe intellectual disability, I have spent years in those waiting rooms, moving between doctors, therapists, hospitals, and uncertainty. Always waiting.

For families raising children with disabilities, the waiting room becomes more than just a place you visit. Filled with exhaustion, fear, resilience, and often deep loneliness, it becomes part of daily life.
