Ever thought you could play a part in making an African musician’s dreams come true? Now is your chance to help a band from Africa perform at the biggest show of their careers!
The Wacken Metal Battle Sub-Saharan Africa brings together underground bands from across several African countries to perform at a tournament that will see one of the eleven bands from five countries perform at a global battle of the bands tournament at the biggest music festival - Wacken Open Air in Hamburg, Germany in August 2024.
This year the bands competing have won the first round in their home countries - Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia and South Africa- including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban. These ambassadors of metal and rock music will compete at the Sub-Saharan finals on the 5th of May in Johannesburg, South Africa. During this tournament, the finalists receive the chance to access many opportunities to further their career and experience as a live performing and touring band.
